2007 Rookie

Now that David Ragan is driving the famed No. 6 car vacated by Mark Martin at the end of 2006, the young rookie is definitely getting some attention. But Ragan has been racing far longer than his age would imply.

At eleven years old, Ragan began racing in the Bandolero Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway. At twelve, he won the National Champion Bandolero Bandits division with 12 Bandolero feature wins. He followed that with 19 wins and another championship the next year, and his family could see that he was a rising star.

Not until he was sixteen was David Ragan eligible to race in NASCAR Late Model races, and of course it was among the first things he did at that age. The next year, Ragan continued to run Late Models as well as competed in two ARCA races.

At eighteen, David became eligible for NASCAR divisions and the ARCA/Remax series. This was 2004- the year David competed in eight NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events. The next year, 2005, saw David break into the Busch Series, running three races, and participate in Roush Racing’s driver development program.

Now in his rookie year in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, David Ragan is solidly in the top 35 in points and is making Jack Roush proud.
