Dale Earnhardt Jr., the son of the late great Dale Earnhardt, has racing roots stemming back to grandfathers on both his mother's and father's sides. His paternal grandfather, Ralph Earnhardt, is one of NASCAR's all time greats, as is his father Dale Sr.
Earnhardt Jr. won two Busch Series titles in a row in 1998 and 1999, making him the first third-generation NASCAR champion.
In the Cup Series, Earnhardt Jr. has finished in the top ten in points in four out of the last six seasons. In 2008, Jr. plans to drive for a new team where he hopes to win the coveted Nextel Cup.
Jr. is the series' most popular driver, winning the vote every year from 2003 to 2006. He is a Daytona 500 champion, and has 17 career victories, including a career-high six victories in 2004.
